Recession Adverts (uk); What’s With The Old Actors/newsreaders Advising Us All To Sell Our ‘old Gold’?

Watched a bit of telly after returning home from night shift, and amongst the ads., from the African Meerkat talking in European-stylee English (Simples…) to an ex-EastEnders old boy telling us how we can claim compo, I now tend to be assaulted by ads from various pawn stores - with mostly female actors/newsreaders still looking good, but getting on a bit, tellling us we can sell our gold and other valuables - obviously to get wherewithal to pay off our obviously rising debts. What’s next, I wonder…a sweet young thing telling lasses between the ages of 20-40, taking a nightly walk up and down Ber Street* might make their bank manager happy?
*Ber St. well known prostitution district of Norwich…but just an example!
