This diamond ring doesn’t shine for me anymore…so how do I get rid of it?
I have a wedding ring that means nothing to me anymore. It makes me feel bad to even see it so I am willing to sell it, but want to get as much as possible for it, and have no idea how to do it.
The center stone is a round cut “hearts and arrows”, and is described as “near flawless” and is .74 Ct in size. There are two round cut side stones described as “flawless,” each .25 Ct in size. There are also six channel set stones on either side, all smaller. It is set in 14K white gold.
I have the official appraisal papers, but they are put away for safekeeping and aren’t right at hand this minute. I do know, however, that the clarity rating was high, and that the total value when it was purchased 4 1/2 years ago was just under $5000.
I basically want to know what I should expect to hear from a jeweler when I approach them about buying the ring. Is that the best way to do it? I have never sold my jewelry before. Any recommendations on what to say? I know to bring the papers with, and I thought the best place to start would be with the jeweler it was purchased from.
Thanks for the expertise.

If you know what you paid for it & you have the appraisal what are you afraid of… you don’t have to offer up an explanation. Just tell them you’d like to sell it! Many people these days are selling off their jewelry just t make ends meet…
And, yes – the best idea is to take it to the place you purchased it at.
PLEASE… unless you’re an established seller on eBay – do NOT sell it in that forum – there are so many scams and you WILL get taken! I have been selling there for over 5 years and it amazes me how many people fall for scams! Do not take that advice!!
Good luck!
eBay is a good choice. You can set the minimum price you would accept and if no one bids that high, you don’t have to sell it for less.
get it professionally cleaned/polished. then turn it in 2 a jewlers store. they may give you some money for it, and use it 2 make something else
Well you won’t get much for it, Take it to a jewelry store that takes used jewelry or a pawn shop. There is always e-bay. You might get get $1,000 for it.
Do not pawn it! You will receive 75% less than the value price. Have the ring appraised again and sell it online with authentic paperwork or trade it for a new ring at a jewelry store.
